About Car2Bus
Gain a nationally recognised qualification, relevant licences, work-readiness skills and personalised support.
Throughout the program, participants will:
- undertake a Certificate III in Driving Operations
- get a Medium Rigid (MR) licence and a First Aid certificate
- undertake Virtual Reality driver safety training
- develop communications, problem-solving and work-ready skills
- receive practical assistance throughout the program including meals, travel subsidies and work clothing/uniforms
- be supported by a team of experienced supervisors and mentors
Once the Car2Bus program is completed, participants will receive up to six months of post-program support including resume writing, interview preparation and connections with potential employers.
Possible career pathways include working as a bus driver, truck driver, delivery driver, freight driver or within the transport and logistics industry.
Eligibility
To be eligible, participants must:
- Hold a current C class open licence (Australian or overseas)
- Have the ability to obtain a current Driver Authorisation from the Queensland Government
- Have a good driving history with no more than four demerit points in the past three years and no suspended licence or good behaviour period in the last three years, excluding State Penalty Enforcement Registry suspensions

Car2Bus participants undertake the TLI31222 Certificate III in Driving Operations with Major Training Group (Code 6139), the program's Registered Training Organisation (RTO) partner.
This qualification provides the skills and knowledge to operate a range of heavy vehicles and covers various aspects of safe driving, vehicle maintenance and load handling.
Specialised driver safety training using Virtual Reality
In partnership with Next World, Car2Bus participants complete specialised driver safety training using Virtual Reality (VR). This training is designed to simulate real-world scenarios in a controlled, immersive environment, providing trainees with hands-on experience and the opportunity to build confidence behind the wheel.
