MEGT Information Technology - Systems Engineer

OBJECTIVES OF THE DIVISION

The IT Division is tasked with providing Information Technology services and solutions in support of all operational divisions and MEGT business objectives. These services include the provision and maintenance of hardware, software and network infrastructure, helpdesk services, as well as application support and solutions.

 

From a Project Management and Business Process perspective the IT Division’s objective is to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of MEGT by providing executive level governance of all MEGT processes and projects to ensure they align with the overall MEGT organisational goals.  This is achieved by facilitating optimal project management and business process outcomes and resource allocation.


 

POSITION DESCRIPTION

The objective of the position is to ensure that MEGT has a Systems Engineer resource to oversee and facilitate the implementation of IT Infrastructure projects for the business in line with organisational objectives. This role is an integral part of the Operations Team and is a position intended to deliver a wide range of skills with the ability to tackle any challenge to help MEGT provide a high-quality customer service. 


 

RELATIONSHIPS

  • Reporting to the IT Operations Manager

  • Working closely with the Infrastructure Team

  • Building and maintaining collaborative relationships with all external stakeholders

MANDATORY QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications (business and/or IT) and /or MCSE or multiple other technical certifications. 

  • High level of knowledge in Data Centre Architecture and Operations.

  • High level of knowledge in Windows platform and Azure.

  • Well-developed planning, organisational, priority setting and time management skills, able to balance strategic level thinking with detailed process and procedural understanding.

  • Demonstrated capability to successfully influence and negotiate within a complex and fast-changing business environment in order to achieve efficient and effective business outcomes, including collaborating with vendors, contractors, and others.

  • Proven experience in motivating team members to reach desired organisational objectives and encouraging an organisation-wide commitment to quality.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Proactively provide advice, guidance, architecture and leadership to the Infrastructure team in delivering a quality service in line with organisational objectives.

  • Installing, supporting, and maintaining servers, network and other infrastructure. 

  • Oversee and implement larger Infrastructure Projects, monitoring and analysing available data to determining opportunities for continuous improvement. 

  • Assist in the development, execution and review of operational procedures, documenting all systems, policies and procedures and communicating them clearly throughout the organisation while providing a positive example.

  • Implementation of hardware and software upgrades and configuration changes, providing staff with all required resources and training.

  • Problem diagnosis and resolution (hardware and software troubleshooting), contributing to the identification of potential areas of risk and supporting the implementation of preventive measures and/or corrective actions.

  • Accurate, reliable and secure maintenance of IT asset information.

  • Build strong, effective and collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders, undertaking collaborative development and improvement activities. 

  • Ensure MEGT remains focused on Information Security by supporting the communication of processes and security objectives throughout the organisation. 

  • Undertake continuous professional development activities by engaging with the MEGT Performance Appraisal and Development Program.

NATIONAL POLICE CHECK

This position is required to undertake a National Police Check prior to commencing employment. A State/Territory Working with Children or Working with Vulnerable People Check may also be required by any applicable State/Territory legislation. The National Police Check must be renewed every two years as a minimum.
