For additional information about the 1,000 NSW Public Sector Apprentices and Trainees Program visit the NSW Government website.

As NSW government agencies and state-owned corporations commit to the ongoing engagement of apprentices and trainees, MEGT is well-placed to help agencies of all kinds achieve key staffing targets.

MEGT’s Group Training Organisation (GTO) services can help NSW agencies deliver on a state government commitment to increase the number of apprentices and trainees and improve their workforce diversification.

Our GTO services offer several advantages over direct employment. These include:

  • Personalised screening and recruitment
  • Managing work performance on an ongoing basis
  • Managing health and safety requirements
  • Mentoring for the apprentice/trainee & support for the supervisor

Apprentices and trainees engaged through a GTO, under the NSW Public Sector Apprentices and Trainees Program are also not included as FTE agency staff, meaning managers have greater choice and flexibility.

MEGT has hundreds of passionate, work-ready candidates looking forward to an opportunity to work in a multitude of NSW agencies.

The NSW government has committed to engaging 1,000 additional apprentices and trainees by July 2026, a strategy that will help attract and build the workforce skills and capability of the state’s public sector well into the future.

MEGT also warmly applauds the NSW government’s commitment to diversity, by including roles for Women in Trades, First Nations peoples, and candidate cohorts who are otherwise disadvantaged.
