Apprentice Painter and Decorator

We Paint Gold Coast are currently looking for an apprentice painter to join the team.  

If you have an eye for detail and design, and like a job that offers visual satisfaction then this is the opportunity for you. Working with qualified and skilled painters you will gain valuable hands-on experience, mentoring and support.  

Duties will involve:

Preparation

  • Setting up the work area (laying drop sheets, taping edges, covering furniture).
  • Cleaning and sanding surfaces to remove old paint, dirt, and imperfections.
  • Filling holes, cracks, and gaps with filler or caulk.
  • Priming surfaces before painting.

Painting & Application

  • Mixing and preparing paint according to specifications.
  • Learning and practicing different painting techniques (rolling, brushing, spraying).
  • Applying undercoats, base coats, and finishing coats.
  • Touch-ups and second coats as needed.

Clean-Up & Maintenance

  • Cleaning brushes, rollers, and other painting equipment.
  • Removing protective coverings and tape.
  • Keeping the worksite clean and organized.

Learning & Development

  • Assisting senior painters and learning from their experience.
  • Understanding color matching, different paint types, and application methods.
  • Becoming familiar with safety procedures and proper handling of materials.

  • Willing to put in physical effort and work in various conditions.
  • Careful with preparation, application, and clean-up to ensure a high-quality finish.
  • Able to follow instructions accurately.
  • Works well with colleagues and follows directions from supervisors.
  • Can communicate effectively with team members and clients when needed.
  • Comfortable working on ladders, scaffolding, and in different weather conditions.
  • Able to handle physical labor, including lifting and repetitive tasks.
  • Understands and follows workplace health and safety regulations.
  • Uses protective gear and proper handling techniques for tools and materials.
  • Able to measure and mix paint accurately.
  • Can think critically to solve minor issues on the job.

Preferred but not essential: 

  • Driver's licence and vehicle.
