Hello, everyone! I’m Tyler, a proud Yorta Yorta man from the border region of New South Wales and Victoria. Currently, I serve as one of MEGT’s mentors based in our Southport office on the beautiful Gold Coast in Queensland.
Since joining the MEGT Mentoring team in July 2023, I’ve transitioned from my previous work in health and wellbeing facilitation in Melbourne to focus on empowering First Nations apprentices and trainees.
With a background in primary healthcare and social and emotional support, the past year has seen me dedicated to fostering a positive environment for individuals currently undertaking a certificate with MEGT. I prioritise confidentiality and respect for privacy, which creates a safe space for mentoring. Together, we navigate and tackle any barriers, ensuring every apprentice has a fulfilling and successful journey while feeling as comfortable as possible. It’s all about making sure they know that there is someone in their corner and who has their back. Sometimes that can make a huge difference in someone’s life.
Reflecting on the past year, we’ve witnessed some incredible outcomes for the apprentices I’ve supported. My goal is to continue expanding our mentoring services, collaborating across departments to provide holistic support to Indigenous apprentices and trainees. It’s rewarding to contribute to a new era of mentorship within MEGT's vision.
When I’m not in the office, I enjoy gaming on PlayStation, reading, and relaxing. Currently, I’m focusing on honing my meal prep skills and experimenting with new cooking techniques and recipes. Looking forward, I’m enthusiastic about the growth of mentoring opportunities and the profound impact they can have on the lives of apprentices and trainees. I want to express my gratitude to all apprentices who are courageously taking on the challenge of their chosen careers. Remember, you are not alone on this journey—my fellow mentors and I are here to support you every step of the way.
