From the Ground Up is a new program designed for candidates interested in careers within the resources and infrastructure sector including mining, quarry and civil construction industries.
The Queensland resources industry employs about 77,000 workers and has offered fulfilling careers for generations of Queenslanders. From the Ground Up offers a new generation the same opportunity.
Over the course of four weeks and situated at Yatala on the Gold Coast, participants learn a series of skills to get a foot in the door of this exciting and ever-growing field which offers high-wage, highly skilled, safe and fulfilling careers.
From the Ground Up teaches foundational skills to suit career pathways including civil construction, plant operations, mining and excavating. It includes:
• Essential knowledge about key industry processes
• Safety protocols and safe work practices
• Communication and other work-ready skills
• Support from a team of experienced mentors
• An opportunity to make connections with potential employers
The program, delivered by Registered Training Organisation (RTO) Major Training, allows participants to work towards a nationally-recognised qualification which builds the fundamental skills and knowledge required to work in these sectors.
Upon completion of the From the Ground Up program, graduates are supported towards gaining an apprenticeship.
