More Australian employers may be eligible for financial incentives of up to $5,000, with the addition of 12 occupations to the Australian Apprenticeships Priority List.
The priority list has been updated based on demand ratings, and underpins the financial supports offered via the Australian Apprenticeships Incentive System.
Occupations which have been added from 1 January 2025 are:
- Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Worker
- Electrical Engineering Draftsperson
- Family Day Care Educator
- Barber
- Driller
- Electric Vehicle Technician
- Employment Consultant
- Gas Network Technician
- Marine Engineer
- Marine Pilot
- Railway Network Controller
- Ship’s Master
Employers who sign up an apprentice in an industry linked to one of these occupations may be eligible to receive the Priority Hiring Incentive.
Eligible employers that hire a new or existing worker in a priority occupation can claim up to a maximum of $5,000 for full-time apprentices, and $2,500 for part-time apprentices in the first year of their apprenticeship.
