The value of apprenticeships has been underlined by new data indicating more than 95% of trade students are employed after becoming formally qualified.
The Apprentice and trainee outcomes 2024 report by the National Centre for Vocational Education Research (NCVER) found 95.4% of trade students and 89.4% of non-trade students were employed after completing their on-the-job training.
During 2024, 74.4% of trade apprentices were employed in the same occupation in which they undertook training, while another 14.6% found jobs in different occupations but believed their original training was relevant.
For non-trade apprentices, about one-third were employed in the same occupation they completed training in, while 41.5% found jobs in different occupations.
