We currently have an opportunity for the right person to undertake a Fitter Machinist Apprenticeship.
The successful candidate will be required to complete a Certificate III Mechanical Engineering – Mechanical Trade.
Based in Condell Park GCG Turbochargers is one of Australia’s longest established turbocharger supply and repair companies. Serving the Performance, Marine, Automotive and Transport Industries Since 1979 our technicians have the industry training and years of experience backed by the latest test equipment and facilities. We are looking for candidates who are dedicated and committed to successfully completing their apprenticeship and a Certificate 3 in Engineering.
As an Apprentice Turbo Technician at GCG you will work under supervision, in our state of art workshop while developing skills and abilities to compliment your studies and gaining valuable experience in a supportive atmosphere. Undertaking an apprenticeship with GCG allows you to earn a wage while learning your trade and will set you up for a rewarding, and long-lasting career.
You will be trained in all aspects of Fitting & Machining whilst completing a Certificate III in Engineering - Mechanical Trade at TAFE.

Your roles and responsibilities may include but not limited to:
- Overhaul turbo equipment, including dismantling and cleaning of turbos
- Perform fault diagnostics
- Repair and fit engineering components
- Operating balancing equipment
- Perform installation and removal of mechanical seals
- Perform engineering measurements
- Apply principles of occupational health and safety in the work environment
- Plan to undertake a routine task
- Apply quality systems & procedures
- Work with others in a manufacturing, engineering or related environment
- Interact with computing technology
- Keep the workshop clean and safe
- Participate in environmentally sustainable work practices
- Perform general machining
- Perform lathe, milling & grinding operations
- Interpret technical drawing
- Mark off/out (general engineering)
- Use hand tools, power tools/hand held operations
What we want from you
- Proven understanding of mechanical principles
- You should be safety focused, action oriented, innovative, possess strong problem solving skills able to demonstrate you work collaboratively as a key member of a manufacturing maintenance team.
- Good Pass marks in English and Math
- Have reliable transport to and from work with a clean drivers licence
- Be able to demonstrate you can work collaboratively as a key member of a high energy team.
- Be ready to roll up your sleeves and do the job
