Carpentry Apprentice

Job ID: 36245 P J Cook Building

P J Cook Building are seeking an aspiring motived apprentice carpenter to join our team 3rd week of January 2025.

The carpentry trade is hard work, at times involves working long hours and is not for everyone. There are no short cuts to success – if you are not ready to work hard and earn your position do not bother applying for this position. We are not looking for someone that simply wants a job to earn money to service a lifestyle they respect more than their job. No lifestyle can be serviced without looking after your job.

At P J Cook Building we have a zero tolerance for employees who have sense of entitlement and feel we owe them. Remember, we owe you nothing. Lazy and unreliable employees are easily replaced.

There are no free rides in life – if want something you must be willing to work hard for it. You cannot be great at anything unless you are willing to train hard and be obsessed with it. You need to be thinking about it all the time. That obsession may consume you but that is the difference between the great and the merely good.

Becoming a professional carpenter with a good reputation, involves preparing and conditioning your body. Remember, no professional NRL player makes the first-grade team each week delivering the minimum standard – you must be willing to work hard [harder than your competition] to maintain your spot, this is what it takes to maintain your spot in a first-grade team to achieve success. When you learn to build the game plan in your mind the night before, executing this on-site the following day becomes easier and easier the more often you do it.

If you want to be one of the best at what you do, work eventually feels like play. That’s one of the keys to being successful. But remember, it is not always play.  Achieving success always means big sacrifices. If you are not prepared to make big sacrifices, you are not prepared to achieve successes.

We can teach you all the necessary skills to become a successful carpenter, but you must be willing to listen, take instructions, constructive criticism [when necessary] and work hard for it. You will be working with quality licenced carpenters and a builder who is passionate about delivery consistent quality homes. Daily duties involve frames, trusses, conventional roofing, lock up, fix outs, fit offs and yes there will be labouring duties as well – cleaning up and labouring is also part of being a quality carpenter.

This trade does not require any degrees – a piece of paper does not determine your future, but hard work, punctuality, reliability, and consistency does. Successful people quickly understand, that if you want to buy things in life without looking at the price tag you must be willing to work without looking at the clock.

If you are ready to let your actions do the talking, willing to turn up daily ready to execute the game plan we look forward to hearing from you.

To be eligible for an apprenticeship or traineeship you must be an Australian Citizen, Permanent Resident or have full working rights.
