Geo technician – Field and/or Laboratory Technicians

Qualtest Laboratory (NSW) Pty Ltd is an independent geotechnical, environmental, and testing company dedicated to servicing Newcastle, the Hunter Valley, and Regional NSW. Qualtest provide environmental and geotechnical consulting services, and specialised soil, aggregate, rock, and concrete testing.

We are currently seeking motivated field and laboratory Geo technicians to join our rapidly expanding business, with multiple full-time traineeship roles available. This opportunity is at our Newcastle office.

Prior experience is not necessary as full training will be provided on-the-job. We offer Government approved Traineeships for the right candidates, studying Certificate IV in ‘Laboratory Techniques’. Ongoing learning whilst being paid and gaining on-the-job training to kick start your career opportunities. Great for School leavers!

Competitive salaries / pay rates on offer, including regular penalty rates with overtime and weekend work available.

Key job tasks and responsibilities may include:

  • Field work conducting supervision, testing, and sampling of soil, aggregate and concrete;
  • Laboratory testing of soils, aggregate, rock, and concrete;
  • Calculation, checking, reporting and certification of test results;
  • Routine calibration and set-up of equipment.

Vital attributes for candidates include:

  • Good communication and numerical skills;
  • Be reliable, punctual, and honest;
  • Must have a positive, can-do attitude;
  • No experience needed;
  • Valid driver's licence / be able to get yourself to work.
  • Candidates with a construction white card are preferred but not essential.
