A great opportunity is available at City Parklands to start your career in the Horticulture industry.
Our Apprentice Horticulturist will work and gain experience as they study to complete a Certificate III in Parks & Gardens. This is a 3-year temporary, full-time position, where our apprentice will undertake in-house practical training with City Parklands experienced and knowledgeable Horticulturists.
As an apprentice, the daily tasks will include:
- Maintenance of parks and gardens, and specialised amenity horticultural areas
- Pruning, planting and protection of trees and shrubs
- Planting special garden displays
- Plant identification
- Control of weeds, pests and diseases
- Operating and maintaining machinery and equipment
Key requirements for the position:
- You will be an enthusiastic and committed individual with a demonstrated interest in gardening and passion for horticulture
- Be physically fit and able to pass a pre-employment medical assessment
- Hold a current drivers licence (manual desirable)
- Completed year 10 Maths and English
